T. to kings, hence, by metonymy, for kingly power, royalty: [Luk 1:32], [Luk 1:52]; [Act 2:30]. metaphorically, to God, the governor of the world: [Mat 5:34]; [Mat 23:22]; [Act 7:49] ([Isa 66:1]); [Rev 1:4]; [Rev 3:21]; [Rev 4:2-6], [Rev 4:9], [Rev 4:10], etc.; [Heb 4:16]; [Heb 8:1]; [Heb 12:2]. to the Messiah, the partner and assistant in the divine administration: [Mat 19:28]; [Mat 25:31]; [Rev 3:21]; [Rev 20:11]; [Rev 22:3]; hence, the divine power belonging to Christ, [Heb 1:8]. to judges, equivalent to tribunal or bench (Plutarch, mar., p. 807 b.): [Mat 19:28]; [Luk 22:30]; [Rev 20:4]. to elders: [Rev 4:4]; [Rev 11:16]. to Satan: [Rev 2:13]; cf. Bleek at the passage to the beast (concerning which see θηρίον): [Rev 16:10]. θρόνος is used by metonymy, of one who holds dominion or exercises authority; thus in plural of angels: [Col 1:16] (see Lightfoot at the passage).
