a. of persons or people, blotted out by their destruction, Exod 17:14 (E; with מחה‎) = Deut 25:19; 32:26 (השׁבית‎) Psa 34:17; 109:15 (both הכרית‎), 9:7 (אבד‎), Job 18:17 (אבד‎; || שֵׁם‎), Isa 26:14 (אבּד‎); compare on other hand ׳ז עוֺלָם‎ as portion of righteous.

b. of ׳י‎ Psa 6:6; 102:13 (|| אַתָּה‎ = יהוה‎).

c. of ׳י‎s character and works Psa 30:5; 97:12; 111:4.

d. remembrance of particular days, i.e. their observance Est 9:28 (יְמֵי הַמּוּרִים‎).

a. nearly = ׳ז לִבְרָכָה צַדִּיק שֵׁם,‎ Prov 10:7 (|| שֵׁם‎), compare also Eccl 9:5 (with נשׁכח‎); especially of ׳י‎ Exod 3:15 (E), Hosea 12:6; Isa 26:8; Psa 135:13 (all || שֵׁם‎).

b. = renown (of Israel) Hosea 14:8 (compare VB).
