P. 10.48; so λ. εὐθὺς γίγνομαι Antiph. 166.4; but, ἕστηκε λίθινος, of a statue, Hdt. 2.141 (cf. ἵστημι A. 1, B. 111.2); τὰ λ. marble statues, X. Lac. 3.5; Ἑρμῆς λ. Eub. 96; for Hdt. 2.69, v. cross λίθος 11.1, ὕαλος 11: metaph., καρδία LXX [Eze 11:19]. Adv. - νως like stone, λ. βλέπειν πρός τινα, with allusion to the Gorgon, X. Smp. 4.24.
