a. properly, an inhabited edifice, a dwelling: [Mat 2:11]; [Mat 7:24-27]; [Mar 1:29]; [Luk 15:8]; [Joh 12:3]; [Act 4:34]; [1Co 11:22]; [2Ti 2:20], and often; οἱ ἐν τῇ οἰκία namely, ὄντες, [Mat 5:15]; οἱ ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας with the genitive of person, [Phi 4:22]; ἡ οἰκία τοῦ (πατρός μου) Θεοῦ, i. e. heaven,. The foregoing distinction is not, however, consistently maintained in late Greek; cf. MM , ii, xvii, and v. Thayer , s.v. οἰκία .
