4. beguile, cozen, deceive, ἡ δ’ ἄρ’ ἐν σκότῳ λήθουσά με ἔσαιν’ Ἐρινύς S. Fr. 577; ς. μ’ ἔννυχος φρυκτωρία seeks to deceive me, E. Rh. 55 (or in signf. 111.3 ).

5. in 1Th 3:3, σαίνεσθαι ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσι seems to mean to be shaken, disturbed; σαινόμενοι τοῖς λεγομένοις ἐδάκρυον D.L. 8.41 (or in signf. 111.4 ); σαίνεται· κινεῖται, σαλεύεται, ταράττεται, Hsch.; but cf. σιαίνω .
