I fish, [Joh 21:3]; to be a fisher, Plu. Ant. 29; fish for, catch, σπάρους dub. l. in Epich. 54; λίθους Luc. Pisc. 47: abs., Luc. Herm. 65, etc.: metaph. of avenger, ἁλιεύειν τινάς LXX [Jer 16:16].
II only Med. occurs in Att., Pl.Com. 44; Ἁλιευομένη, title of play by Antiph.: - also later, Posidon. 68.
