adverb of time, not yet, ere, before that (derivation unknown: not found in cognate languages) — construed mostly with the imperfect (with the perfect only [Gen 24:15] ([24:45] imperfect), [1Sam 3:7] a (v:b imperfect), and בְּטֶרֶם [Psa 90:2]; [Prov 8:25]): —
1 טֶרֶם in an independent sentence, not yet, [Gen 2:5] and all the plants of the field בארץ יהיה טרם were not yet in the earth, etc., [19:4] ישׁכבו טרם not yet had they lain down, when etc., [24:15], [45]; [Num 11:33]; [Josh 2:8]; [1Sam 3:3], [7] (twice in verse); of present time, [Exod 9:30]; [10:7] תֵּדַע הֲטֶרֶם dost thou not yet know, etc.?; in a subordinate clause, ere, before that, [12:34] they took their dough יחמץ טרם before it was leavened, [Josh 3:1]; [Psa 119:67]; of future time [Isa 65:24].
